Career history
After graduation, Cem Savas started his own company, with local offices in both the USA and Germany. After two years of work experience, he decided to pursue an MBA to further enhance his knowledge of the analytical and theoretical tools essential to making sound decisions and solving business models.

?The University assures access to a variety of business professionals who share their knowledge with its students, adding an invaluable asset to the programme.?

Why choose the full-time MBA programme at the WHU?
I chose the WHU MBA programme because of its pragmatic approach. Cultural diversity is well represented in the student body, with students from South Korea, Russia, India and South Africa. Moreover, the diversity of our educational backgrounds, ranging from the USA to Europe, provides an international exposure that enhances the global view and atmosphere at WHU.

By having large numbers of international students to complement the domestic students, an exciting environment has been created, encouraging openness to different cultures and enhanced creativity.

Furthermore, the small class size and close student-to-faculty-member ratio ensures that an interactive environment can evolve where you learn not only from your professors, but also from other students and participants in the MBA programme. WHU provides and develops the cross-cultural communication skills necessary within a team environment, while providing a unique opportunity to build relationships and networks with its alumni and other student bodies.

Top-notch professors effectively teach students the tools needed in today?s business world. The University assures access to a variety of business professionals who share their knowledge with its students, adding an invaluable asset to the programme.

The structure of the MBA programme also caught my attention. Sixteen months of intense education paired with an optional ten-week summer internship and an international module, which takes part at the Kellogg School of Management in Chicago, the Indian Institute of Management in Bangalore and the China Europe International Business School in Shanghai, convinced me to select this MBA programme.

Because of high rankings for the diploma and Executive MBA programmes, I was convinced that the full-time MBA would evolve as one of the leading MBA programmes in Germany, and would soon compete against top MBA programmes in both Europe and the rest of the world. Its accreditation by EQUIS and its close ties to leading companies also played a major role in my decision to pursue my MBA at the WHU. It is a new programme where I can contribute my energy and be part of a new emerging powerhouse in MBA education in Germany.

Describe the MBA programme
The full-time MBA programme spans approximately 16 months. The tuition fees of ?35,000 include all books, lunches and room-and-board in the international module. German citizens have access to a loan from the local bank with guaranteed loan approval over the maximum amount. Partial scholarships are available.

The programme has eight modules that are structured in the following way: foundations of management, strategy, value chain management, managing organisations, international management ? study tour, specialisations in marketing, finance, innovation or leadership, and a final master thesis.

The workload can be very heavy, and long nights should be planned in advance. Professors usually lecture in the morning, and teams work on cases in the afternoon to wrap up the learning experience in the form of presentations in the evening sessions. Due to the different backgrounds of the team members, casework can be quite challenging, frustrating and rewarding at the same time. Not only do you learn more about the topics, but you also experience different thinking processes and ideas from your peers. Theory and practice are combined in an ideal and realistic setting.

Did you enjoy any extracurricular activities?

There are many different ways to get involved in extracurricular activities at the School. Many students belong to several clubs and enjoy taking part in different events at the University. The University also encourages students to start new initiatives. If there is any free time remaining, the area offers great opportunities to travel locally or visit one of the many European countries located just a couple of hours? journey away.
