'The strategic, financial and organizational knowledge offered by an MBA is invaluable.'
Why an MBA? As an engineering graduate with six years' work experience in the engineering field, an MBA was a logical choice for me. I focused on the UK for my MBA search as British MBA programmes are usually 12 months long, meaning I wouldn't have to take too much time-out from my career. An MBA was the best way for me to learn managerial and business skills in a relatively short space of time.
Why the European Business School London? I was keen to study in London, a city well known for its international diversity and excellent business networking opportunities. I visited several business schools in the region, but the European Business School London (EBSL) seemed the right 'fit' for me ? I was attracted to its small size, the internationalism of its staff and students, and the 'general management' focus of the MBA programme. Being an engineer an MBA was the right next step in my career, and EBSL gave me the managerial skills and knowledge I was looking for. Having grown up in an international environment, I appreciated the multiculturalism of my MBA classmates, and I enjoyed working in seminar groups with people from a host of different experiences and backgrounds.
Study abroad On this MBA programme, students can choose to study abroad in Hong Kong, New York or Copenhagen. My eight-week study period abroad in Hong Kong gave me an excellent opportunity to put the knowledge I had learned from the various business modules into practice, and the visit was a great introduction to Hong Kong culture. It was very rewarding to work alongside Chinese classmates and networking in the city revealed many new business opportunities to me.
Was it worth it? My ambition upon completing the course was to work within operations management for an international company and, having now fulfilled this ambition, I am using skills gained from my MBA on a daily basis. The strategic, financial and organisational knowledge offered by an MBA is invaluable, and I highly recommend an MBA to anyone looking to take a step up the career ladder. It's rewarding to see how much MBA knowledge I am able to put into practice, andhow I now manage situations in a different way.
