Toulouse Business School

Hobsons MBA - Toulouse Business School was founded in 1903 in response to the needs of local industry. The school, one of the prestigious "Grandes Ecoles de Management," was delivering a single unique graduate degree to highly selected students. Responding to the needs of the business community, the school pursued a vigorous policy of program development and diversification. Thanks to these efforts, the Toulouse Business School is accredited by EQUIS (2001 and 2004), AACSB (2003), and its Aerospace MBA earned AMBA accreditation (2002, 2005, and 2007).

The Aerospace MBA
In Toulouse, at the heart of a world-class aerospace complex located in an exceptional industrial, academic, and research environment, it was inevitable that the Toulouse Business School share its management expertise with the aerospace world. Unquestionably, managing in the aerospace/aviation sector in a permanently changing environment, be it customer relations, finance, production, or human resources, requires a specific knowledge for specific practices, constraints, and changes. By carefully blending the expertise of our faculty with experience of top practioners in the field, we have given ourselves the means to meet this ambitious challenge. The enthusiastic participation of these world-class competitors gives the program and participants significant added value.

This MBA is very much linked with the industry's major players (and recruiters) and proposes an attractive pedagogical approach thanks to its matrix structure.

Programs

The Aerospace MBA is a generalist MBA in its approach and a specialized MBA in its application. It is entirely taught in English.

There are two formulas:

  • Executive/Part time: Four sessions over two years
  • Full time: One year

The program consists in five stages and objectives are:

To develop a flexible and creative learning process
To broaden knowledge rather than deepen it
To encourage innovative thinking and open-mindedness
To enhance managerial skills
To emphasize international issues

  • Stage 1: Team Building Seminar: breaking cultural barriers, build team spirit
  • Stage 2: Core Courses: Six Foundation Courses
  • Stage 3: Process Workshops: These eight process workshops enable participants to work on cross-functional management problems.
  • Stage 4: Elective Specialization: the program then proposes four specialized tracks dealing with aerospace sub-sectors, namely O.E.M, airlines, airports, defense, and space (which consists in four specialized process workshops each).
  • Stage 5: Application: the program ends with a four-month individual project: a corporate mission (in company project) or a research project (at CERMAS, Centre for Research and Management in Aeronautics and Space).
  • In addition, participants have to undertake a multicultural team project on an aerospace industry issue. They also have additional courses for soft skills development.

Testimony

It is a Wednesday morning: the office is under seizure by colleagues from all the departments, documents must be signed, presentations submitted, financial analysis due, leasers wanting to know the results of our aircraft analysis, and the aircraft manufacturers due to arrive. It's a normal day at work! It has been almost seven years from my AMBA graduation, and is the first time I break away from the daily routine to think back to my graduate experience.

No matter how hard I try to focus on the academics, I can't ignore the strong smell of morning bread and toasted croissants, the "café au lait" in Place du Capitole and the daily walks to Toulouse Business School by the Garonne River. Talking about student life in the South of France is like ripping a page from a precious novel, is about being in that place where all students would like to be. And like all things in life, a successful experience is the one that reunites all senses and gives one the total satisfaction that allows him to focus on the essence of academic development.

Ruxandra BUTARU, Executive Vice-President, Deputy CEO, TAROM
Aerospace MBA 2001

I completed the Aerospace MBA and joined the market analysis team in the Eurocopter Strategy Directorate to boost business services development. Afterwards, I rapidly took the lead of an operational department and was then appointed as Eurocopter Training Services (ETS) CEO after a certain period. This subsidiary is especially devoted to customer aeronautical training.

The aerospace MBA provided me with the right hard and soft skills for addressing the numerous challenges in the best way.

This program is one you can count on for long-lasting performance in the aerospace business.
