University of Strathclyde
Department of Management, SBS

The University of Strathclyde's Department of Management, founded in 1947, is internationally respected as one of the most innovative business schools in Europe and is an integral part of Strathclyde Business School, which has one of the largest academic faculties in Europe.

Accreditation
Hobsons MBA - Strathclyde Business School is accredited by all three international accrediting bodies ? AMBA, EQUIS and AACSB ? and is one of only 27 in the world to have such a distinction. In fact, less than 1% of business schools in the world hold triple accreditation status. In Scotland, no other business school is accredited so highly. The School also performs consistently well in the UK Government research and teaching assessments.

The MBA programme
The Strathclyde MBA is based on collaborative learning, where work experience, knowledge, understanding and applicable skills are shared, worked with and reflected on. The programme is designed for ambitious, talented and well-qualified individuals with solid business experience. It comprises of compulsory modules supported by a selection of optional in-depth functions, allowing students to tailor their MBA to suit their career aspirations. Students spend time working on and building a corporate strategy. Strategic analysis and strategic thinking are central to the programme, and run throughout the modules. The MBA programme seeks to help students develop ways of grappling with opportunities and problems in the practice of management. The teamworking approach fostered at Strathclyde means uniting an extraordinary range of people from different countries, backgrounds and cultures. Managing this is a challenging task for each participant. Our full-time MBA has a truly international flavour, with participants coming from over 25 countries and around 70% coming from outside the UK every year, while our part-time
programme is a Scottish networking experience, and flexible learning allows the individual to tailor both the pace and place of their study. Whichever route is chosen, the MBA programme offers a challenging and stimulating experience, whatever your ambitions.

Academic strengths
The Business School's 14 subject departments and specialist units collaborate to provide a dynamic, fully rounded and varied programme of specialist and cross-disciplinary postgraduate courses. SBS academic staff have a multidisciplinary outlook and build on the extensive expertise of academic staff from the other business faculty departments. Our academics have particular expertise in the areas of strategic management, leadership and scenario planning. They also undertake a broad range of consultancy activities, both in the UK and internationally. SBS place particular importance on strategic management at the level of developing strategy in any organisation, big or small, departmental or divisional.
