After leaving school, I worked as a chef for five years and then decided to do an undergraduate degree inhospitality at SSTH in Switzerland. From there, I went on to work as a restaurant manager in both Switzerland and the United States. I also worked as a sales/marketing manager for Hotel Inter Continental Zurich. However, my priorities changed over the years and I realized that I really wanted to open my own restaurant chain, so I decided to go back to university to learn more about becoming an entrepreneur. After having worked in the States, I was keen to study in an English speaking country and chose Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh as it has a partnership with SSTH and I already knew a little bit about the university. The MBA is put together well and it's great to work with other students to hear their points of view. For some of the course, you are required to carry out independent learning, so the more eager you are, the more you learn. The lecturers have been very helpful and supportive and actively seek feedback from students to improve courses and teaching. After I graduate in the summer of 2007, I will be working with a company (which can't be named here) as brand manager to hopefully increase my knowledge of brand management. The company has the biggest brand portfolio in the world, with 400 brands spanning 14 categories of home, personal care, and foods products. No other company touches so many people's lives in so many different ways and I will be honored to work with a brand like that. I also plan to work with a partner on a restaurant venture that should start running late summer 2008 in the States.
