Why did you choose the CIIM?

My main reason for choosing the CIIM was that this institution is not too big, thus there is a personal atmosphere at the CIIM: Every foreign student has his or her "contact person" who is accessible almost at every time; the CIIM also arranges an accommodation for the foreign students. In addition to this, the CIIM has the highest educational standards among all the business schools of Cyprus. The CIIM also has a modular structure of the courses so it is possible to get the ECTS credits in a comparatively short time. Last but not least, Cyprus is a EU member and because of that many things are easier for Europeans (no visa, same currency, etc.).

What have you gained?

I could improve my English a lot because all the lectures were in English and almost everyone at the CIIM spoke English. I had the chance to mingle with people of totally different cultures e.g. Indians, Chinese, Americans, Africans, Europeans, etc. and I could understand a little bit how they think, work, and live. And of course I gained a lot of new knowledge from the lectures.

How is the CIIM going to help you in your future studies or career in general?

It was helpful for me that we had to do a lot of group work and presentations at the CIIM. The skills I acquired there will help me in my future studies. It will also help me that I could get to know the British/American view of many topics.

Concerning my career, it is very important nowadays that you stay abroad for some time. This shows your future employer that you can work independently; that you are able to cooperate with people of other cultures; and that you are able to speak a foreign language.

Career history
I have more than ten years' experience in managing projects of varying sizes in the HORECA sector in Finland. Projects have ranged from handling the official opening of a restaurant, to organizing and coordinating big events for up to 60,000 people (for example, music concerts of the Rolling Stones, Metallica, Bryan Adams, and the Ice hockey World Championship).

I was Restaurant and Project Manager for Hotel and Restaurant Linna and Restaurant Fish Market in Helsinki, Restaurant Manager and Event Co-ordinator for the Olympic Stadium, the Vermo Hippodrome and the Wanha Satama Fair in Helsinki. My responsibilities included formatting business concepts, business development, planning, and executing mass attendance events.

Why did you choose the CIIM MBA?

The Cyprus International Institute of Management is the only business school with such international accreditations in Cyprus.

Which was the best element of the CIIM MBA for you?

I would say the flexibility offered by the modular system and the intensive learning. In addition, the international environment and networking that "forced" me to deal with other people from other countries and "forced" me to reshape my presentation skills and way I deal with people from other countries and cultures.

How can the CIIM MBA help you in your future career?

Now I have something concrete on which I can base my decisions. If I am not sure about something I now know how to find the necessary information so that I can reach a level-headed decision.
