Peter Croft General MBA, University of Brighton
University previously attended University of Central Lancashire Degree obtained HND in IT, CMS, DMS Country of origin UK Age 36 years
Career history
Peter Croft qualified and worked as a business analyst. After several years, he moved to a Brighton consultancy firm that was later acquired by GE Capital. His role evolved from a technical expert to managing a team of consultants providing technical solutions that addressed the business needs of many FTSE-100 companies.
Peter Croft's view? I wanted to complete an MBA to gain an internationally recognised qualification. I made a difficult decision to step out of the IT market and reviewed a number of universities for MBA courses. I gratefully accepted a place at Brighton ? the location was ideal, being based in Brighton, and the course was unique, being an international MBA.
The MBA programme covers all the key areas that will provide breadth for a management role. As the course progresses, it is the culmination of teaching and learning, coupled with your own and others' experiences, that really brings all of the aspects of the programme to life and fruition. I look at the MBA as a process: the more you put in, the more you will get out of it. Start the programme running, be ahead on the reading, get involved in the classroom and generally maximise your participation. In this way, the teaching, the learning and the sharing of knowledge will make this one of the most enjoyable experiences in life. This is one of the aims of Brighton; it is 'hands-on', with teaching from people who have been involved in the 'real world' and it makes the difference.
One other factor that adds personal value is the organised week(s) away as a group. This involves research in particular industries, but it also gives you the opportunity to have fun as a group and establish a unity that will help you as the programme and group matures.

Hao Yue General MBA, University of Brighton
University previously attended Tsing Hua University, Beijing, China Degree obtained BA in Chinese Literature and Language Country of origin China Age 35 years
Career history
Hao Yue is from Beijing. Her first degree was a BA in Chinese Literature and Language. She went on to run her own companies in China, specialising in beauty and jewellery products, before joining the MBA course of the University of Brighton.
Hao Yue's view? Considering that China has become the hottest market and a world manufacturing centre, I decided to add academic knowledge to my already self-achieved skills and to build personal contacts. What a fantastic year I have had studying for the MBA in Brighton: the experience is absolutely priceless and I have achieved so much. I have to say I made the right decision to study at the University of Brighton.
There are 31 classmates from 16 countries in the MBA group, and they are amazingly active, sociable, friendly and easy going. They come from a wide variety of working backgrounds: IT consultants, lawyers, marketers, self-employed, economic specialists, human resource specialists, accountants, etc. The group quickly become one family. We care for each other very much, not only because we often go to pubs, clubs and parties, sharing our different cultures, but also because we help each other go through the various difficulties of any subject on the course.
As part of the course requirements, we went on two study trips to Belgium and France. This gave us the chance to know more about each other. We had great fun overseas.
The MBA is a milestone in my career, and it will help me achieve my future goals by improving my confidence in working internationally. 'This MBA is a milestone in my career, and it will help me achieve my future goals by improving my confidence in working internationally.'
