University of Bath School of Management
The School of Management has a deserved reputation for excellence. AMBA-accredited since 1976, independent publishers, including The Financial Times and the Economist Intelligence Unit's Which MBA?, consistently rank us among the world's élite MBA programmes. The School has achieved excellent research and teaching ratings, and the Bath MBA has recently been through an intensive period of innovation.
A world-class reputation
The School is known and respected around the world for its research and teaching, particularly in human-resource management, supply-chain management, operations, business and society/corporate responsibility, change management, leadership and strategy, international business, and innovative manufacturing.
A leading institution that is usually placed in the UK top ten, the University's outstanding facilities include a 24-hour library and a state-of-the-art sports training village. These factors, plus a location on the edge of the beautiful city of Bath, all contribute to an enviable study environment.
A collaborative programme Our student-centred, small-group and high-contact teaching approach provides a stimulating, interactive and supportive learning environment for MBA candidates. Students share knowledge from their diverse experiences, which fosters the cross-fertilisation of ideas and debate on current business themes.
There is heavy emphasis on the output of the degree, ensuring personal effectiveness and powerful outcomes for both individuals and sponsoring employers. Our philosophy is to develop creative, well-rounded, critical-thinking managers. Recent innovation on the programme ensures that graduates will have the skills to manage in a complex, changing world, while also benefiting from the internationally respected research expertise of Bath's faculty members. The Bath MBA is known for its atmosphere of friendly competition - students have a strong drive to succeed, but also give each other support and encouragement.
Entrepreneurship Bath pioneered the entrepreneurial element of the MBA with the renowned 'Claverton: Entrepreneurship in Action' business planning exercise. This unique project helps the Bath MBA to stand out from the crowd. It draws together and puts into context the functional knowledge gained during the first phase of the programme, embedding participants' enterprise skills and giving them an understanding of how high-performance and creative teams are developed and managed.
Full- and part-time programmes Both full- and part-time formats have the same course content, although Executive MBA students have the choice of either taking the Claverton project (see above) or an integration element. Students go through three stages of study: stages one and two being predominately taught, and stage three being the applied phase in the form of a project/dissertation and the completion of the 'Developing Your Managerial Competence' portfolio.
