The MBA in International Business Consulting (IBC) is a compact, hands-on international programme, preparing you in 15 months for a leading position in external or in-house consulting. It was first offered in 1999 and accredited by the FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation) in 2004. The University of Offenburg, close to the French and Swiss borders, is known for its innovation, its international character and its practical teaching approach. Sixteen per cent of its students come from a foreign country, most of them studying one of the three international Master's programmes.
Study in English - live in German(y) As all courses in the IBC programme are given in English, students have the opportunity to study in a language they already know, while learning and practising German in daily life. German classes are offered one month before the programme starts and throughout the duration of the programme.
The IBC programme is divided into four modules: - general management consulting - information technology consulting - logistics consulting - communication and leadership.
In addition, students can choose from a wide range of optional courses.
The first two semesters are purely seminar-based. In the third semester, students will prepare their master thesis, usually as an in-company project. This internship is a good opportunity for further employment within the company.
Interactive practical teaching Interactive teaching, class discussion and case studies are an important part of the seminars. The faculty is comprised of experienced university professors, and German, British and American guest lecturers from companies and consulting agencies, such as Bosch, Dow and Ernst and Young.
In order to guarantee that each student gets good personal attention, the IBC programme employs a co-ordinator, who is the direct contact person for the MBA students. In addition, prior to arrival, all new students are put in contact with a senior student, who provides invaluable assistance during their first weeks in Germany. In a ranking done by the University of Applied Sciences Eberswalde in 2003, the IBC programme was ranked 8th out of 103 MBA programmes in Germany, Austria and Switzerland concerning its service and information quality.
The IBC programme is located at the Gengenbach Campus of the University in a former Benedictine monastery building equipped with state of the art computer equipment.
On completing the programme, 80% of the IBC alumni find a job within the first three months after graduation, nearly all of them having a higher salary than before.
