Willamette UniversityThe Early Career MBA

Ready to jump start your career?  The Willamette University Early Career MBA is an innovative program that allows students to begin their MBA without prior work experience.  Ideal for career entry change or advancement, the Early Career MBA emphasizes experiential learning through class consulting projects, student professional organizations, and career services programs.

Willamette Early Career MBA students come from across the United States and around the world. Thirty percent are international students and 16 percent are members of minority groups. Undergraduate major areas of study include business, social science, liberal arts, economics, engineering, math, and science.

Willamette's size and collegial atmosphere facilitate a high degree of interaction between faculty members and students. The learning environment emphasizes excellent teaching, teamwork, and the practical application of knowledge.

The MBA with More Choices

Why the Willamette MBA?  The unique curriculum integrates business, government, and nonprofit management, resulting in more career opportunities. In addition, students may pursue their individual interests by exploring:

  • Accounting
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Finance
  • Human resources
  • Marketing
  • Operations, analysis, and systems
  • Organizational analysis
  • Public and not-for-profit management

Students interested in international management will also find an assortment of courses that support their career interests.

The Willamette MBA also adds valuable experience to your résumé through experiential learning where you 'learn by doing.' Internships, consulting projects, case studies, simulations, student investment fund, ethics in business awards, and the PACE Projects (where teams of students create and operate real organizations) build the knowledge and experience employers value.

Living and Learning in Oregon

The Salem and Portland areas are noted for an excellent quality of life, friendly people, mild climate, and quick access to the resources of the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Students can ski the Cascade Mountains, enjoy the beaches of the Pacific Ocean, hike the Willamette National Forest, windsurf the Columbia River Gorge, and enjoy the big-city excitement of Portland. Professionally, the Portland-Salem area is home to a multitude of businesses (including Northwest legends Nike, Intel, and Tektronix) and hosts a variety of government and not-for-profit organizations.
