Overview
While the complexities of the world have increased, so have the opportunities for Christian professionals to more effectively impact organizations. With a global vision and entrepreneurial focus, the School of Global Leadership & Entrepreneurship is equipping leaders to transform organizations, both domestically and internationally, through its innovative business and leadership degree programs, research and training centers, strategic networks, conferences, and publications.
Student Body Students in the School of Global Leadership & Entrepreneurship represent a diverse population of professionals active in business, government, nonprofit, military, education, and many other fields--here in the United States and around the world. Our typical master's student will have five to ten years of work experience and a strong undergraduate academic record. Students enrolled in our doctoral programs often have over 12 years of professional experience and have attained management or executive level positions. About two-thirds of the student body is married, and most students maintain full-time employment while they pursue their degrees. The School of Global Leadership & Entrepreneurship also includes approximately ten percent international students, which adds to the richness and relevance of our global perspective.
Academics The School of Global Leadership & Entrepreneurship offers degrees in the fields of leadership and business. The Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a unique program with an emphasis on innovation, global implications, and a capstone course that involves outside business experts in the development of a comprehensive final project. The school also offers an Executive MBA (EMBA), designed exclusively for experienced professionals seeking an accelerated program while maintaining current positions of leadership. Using the cohort model, the EMBA incorporates interaction with an instructor and the other accomplished members of the cohort to promote an educational experience that is academic, relevant, and rich in perspective. A brief, on-campus residency component facilitates the dynamics of this unique program and provides direct access to faculty, guest speakers, and a network that extends around the world.
For students interested in the field of forecasting and futures studies, a master's degree in Strategic Foresight (MSF) is available. A Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership (MOL) is also available for students with active leadership roles. The MOL is well-suited to individuals maintaining their employment, as it may be pursued part time or full time.
The school also offers two doctoral degrees--the PhD in Organizational Leadership and the Doctor of Strategic Leadership. The PhD is best suited for individuals entering the field of academia or research, while the Doctor of Strategic Leadership is an applied doctorate.
All degrees are available 100 percent online, although the EMBA and doctoral degrees do require an annual residency.
Campus Life
The university offers its degree programs through a worldwide online campus and its main campus in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The Virginia Beach Campus is located in one of the nation's most livable cities (U.S.News & World Report, May 2003) with outstanding convenience to the sandy beaches of the Atlantic Ocean (15 minutes), mountain skiing (4 hours), and the downtown Norfolk business district--home to a number of national corporations, an upscale mall, and unique restaurants.
For students living on campus, university apartments are available furnished and unfurnished and include exceptional amenities. Weekend excursions often include historic Williamsburg (40 minutes), Busch Gardens (40 minutes) Richmond, Virginia (90 minutes), and Washington, DC (3.5 hours). Closer to home, the area is host to national theatrical venues, concerts, and the Tidewater Tides, the farm team of the New York Mets.
