Career history Michel Ahmed Abizaid Bucio graduated with a degree in mechanical and electrical engineering from the Panamericana University. A resident of Mexico City, he works for a major international bank in that city.
Why Westminster? I joined the full-time Westminster MBA in 2002, when I was 33. I felt that an MBA degree from a high-quality programme in the UK would benefit my career in international banking.
Life in London and the MBA programme When I got to London, I found that it was very easy to get to the University's Marylebone campus because it was on a number of main bus routes and near a major underground station. The programme was rigorous and challenging, and included all of the main topics that I needed to study for my career growth. In particular, I enjoyed working on my final project because it helped me to understand both the practical and wider theoretical issues associated with the restructuring of my employer after their merger with a bank based in the United States. After having done this project, I'll now be better able to manage in the new organisation.
An international perspective My classmates on the MBA were from around 12 different countries all over the world. A highlight of our experience was interacting with students from the Harrow campus of the University who were studying for their MBA. This mix of different perspectives helped me to see the different ways in which the ideas in the classes related to the world of international management.
Final thoughts Overall, the experience of the Westminster MBA was a good one, full of hard, but rewarding, work, with good lecturers and fellow students. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a good MBA programme in a lively environment with a strong international focus.
'I now have much more to contribute because of my work on the Westminster MBA.'
