La Trobe University Graduate School of Management
La Trobe's 'generalist' MBA offers mid to high level managers from all corners of the globe and around Australia the opportunity to study an MBA that they can tailor to meet their career plans for the future. Flexible study options including a 4 term year, wide unit selections and different modes of unit delivery make La Trobe's MBA a truly excellent study experience.
The Graduate School of Management
The Graduate School of Management (GSM) was formed some eleven years ago as part of the Faculty of Law and Management at La Trobe University. The GSM's dedicated facilities are adjacent to the Melbourne Bundoora Campus giving MBA candidates their own space and providing them with personalised service.
La Trobe's MBA and related programs Candidates are provided with a dynamic and academically rigorous education in management with a balance of practical skills and insights from working managers, giving candidates the opportunity to use these skills in their workplace as they study. Staff have international business operations experience and have studied and taught around the world. Networking opportunities that will reach into the future, and across the globe, provide GSM Alumni with lifelong connections to the School, the University, and to the students they have spent time and studied with.
The MBA consists of 16 units of study made up of 7 core and 9 elective units. The selection of units covers all areas of management including finance, human resource management, marketing, entrepreneurship, governance and corporate social responsibility, leadership, strategy and organisational behaviour. Full time study can be taken over 15 months and part time study for up to 4 years. The 4 term year (entry into the program at the beginning of any of the 4 terms - January, April, July and September) provides busy managers the flexibility to take a term off study when work pressure is at its most demanding. Study options include weekly 3 hour evening or daytime lectures, block mode lectures, on-line units and some units taught via distance education.
The option is also available for candidates to enter the MBA through the Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in Business Administration with 4 and 8 units respectively to be completed (see entry requirements below).
Other features of the MBA Program Candidates are provided with a comprehensive orientation program that includes both a library workshop at La Trobe's world class library and academic writing and referencing workshop. A Career Workshop is held twice a year by the GSM and Hudson Global Resources on 2 consecutive Friday evenings. On completion of the workshop registration with Hudson provides worldwide career network opportunities.
