The MBA
The MBA is designed to meet the requirements of those new to work. It has the aim of equipping the managers of the future with the knowledge and skills to make an immediate contribution to an organisation. Taking an international and multidisciplinary approach to learning, students will have an understanding of the key areas of international business and management by the end of the course. They will also have had an opportunity to apply their learning to real-life cases provided by major organisations. The course provides opportunities to specialise in human resource management, marketing, information systems or finance.

The Executive MBA
Experienced managers are better suited for taking our Executive MBA. As well as being graduates, entrants to this programme will have extensive professional experience, including a minimum of three years working in a managerial capacity.

Working with Business
The research-and-development activity we undertake is well grounded in the world of work. The need to equip our students to meet the challenges of business life informs all our developments and is an important part of our daily life. Many members of staff are involved in consultancy work, or act as business advisers or non-executive directors. The School has a record of working with major employers to provide customised programmes.

Research
LBS places a strong emphasis on research. Currently, this is focused around issues concerning performance management, sustainable organisations, international business and organisational learning. Collaboration is a key feature of the work we undertake, and our partners come from a variety of sectors: utilities, healthcare, computer software, call centres and social housing. Members of the School are active in organising, editing and reviewing for academic events and journals, including the International Marketing Journal, the European Business Review, the European Journal of Management and the Social Enterprise Journal.

Location
LBS is part of the Faculty of Business and Law and situated at Mount Pleasant campus, just five minutes? walk from the centre of Liverpool. The campus is built around lovely gardens and adjacent to one of the University?s award-winning resource centres. Accommodation is available just two minutes? walk from the main campus buildings.
Liverpool is distinctive, cosmopolitan and famed worldwide for its contemporary culture, sports, arts, music and nightlife. This has been recognised by the City being made European Capital of Culture for 2008, making it a very exciting time to be here.

As part of its provision for International students, the University offers summer schools and foundation courses in study skills and the use of English. Skills development is an integral part of the MBA programmes, and sessions on presentation skills, report writing and research are provided.
