Name: Crystal Audrick Program Title: Full-Time MBA Program, Class of 2008 University Previously Attended: The Ohio State University Degree Obtained: MBA, Marketing
Why Fisher? Previously, I worked in sales for a real estate company. I decided to move into brand management and as a single mother, wanted to attend a top-ranked school where I would have the flexibility to care for my son. The Ohio State University gave me that flexibility by offering a highly respected daycare center for my son, Christion, which was just a short drive from campus. Fisher College of Business' small class size--never larger than 75 students and electives with as few as 5-10 people--was perfect. The personalized attention I received from my faculty coach made a tremendous difference. I also have a graduate assistantship from the Frank W. Hale Jr. Black Cultural Center--a cultural hub with a mission to enhance the appreciation of the rich African American culture.
The Fisher Experience Fisher takes great pride and effort in bringing a diverse student body and a diverse mix of business executives to campus. As part of the Leadership and Professional Development curriculum, Fisher offered me the opportunity to hear and interact with top corporate leaders who speak on topics ranging from long-term competitiveness to ethics in the workplace. My experience with my career counselors in the Office of Career Services gave me the tools I needed to be successful in my career search. The personal attention I received gave me an "edge" that most job seekers don't have.
The Fisher Effect As a marketing major interested in the consumer goods industry, I had numerous opportunities to network with executives from Fortune 500 companies from all over the country like Nestle, Procter & Gamble, and Scotts. Alumni events also gave me the chance to speak to corporate leaders about career opportunities in a more social setting, learn about the company and its culture--helpful in determining whether a company was a good fit. Post-MBA I will be joining the Marketing Rotational Program at Nationwide, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio.
