Career history Liutauras is a pure alumnus of Vytautas Magnus University - he has acquired BA (Business Administration) and MBA (Marketing and International Commerce). Why did you choose for the School of Business and Management at VMU? I chose the School of Business and Management because of its well-organized and concentrated studies program. Moreover, for the first time I entered SBM I felt the atmosphere to be very democratic and friendly including both the faculty and the staff. SBM offered everything I was looking for - a relatively small school, therefore open, lively, and quick to develop family feel. The School had earned reputation as the 'Liberty School' by its readiness to recognize each of its students as an individual with unique needs, interests and goals and by its willingness to assist each student to satisfy those needs, develop those interests and achieve the goals. Besides, the university itself had respectable history and was the only and the first in Lithuania that had been re-established after the Soviet regime.
What do you think about our MBA program? School of Business and Management has the MBA structure that maximizes opportunities for learning and developing. During one to two semesters ten subjects are studied and different research projects undertaken; the third semester is left for the diploma preparation and it may be accomplished at SBM or in the student's home country. Isn't it fascinating?
The academic content of the program throughout is very relevant and stimulating, and the whole course provides a good balance between theoretical knowledge and practical application. One of the best things about the education culture at the School of Business and Management is its strong emphasis on teamwork. There's an interaction between the students and this pays off. During the projects we worked so closely together that it was almost as living with each other. This experience was essential in terms of discovering what teamwork is, conducting enquires and formulating various solutions.
What has our MBA brought to you? The MBA program provided me with proficiency that now I can see issues from a wider perspective, different angles and can take into account differing attitudes. I have learned things that help me to manage change and different projects in different cultures. Out of every topic we studied, I took something back and implemented it at work. The greatest thing the MBA program has given for me is that it highlighted a much better insight into the way business works. In addition, I acquired knowledge and tools how to solve various problems I tackle at my work every day. When I face a particular business problem I'm not faltering any more, because now I have so many advisors - professors - to consult with.
