University of New Brunswich St. JohnOverview
The 12-month MBA program at the University of New Brunswick Saint John is intensive, career focused, taught within an international context, and delivered in a wireless environment. The program is structured to develop skills through a modular progression of courses that build from the fundamentals of business to advanced management practice. The full-time program comprises five nine-week study modules, an optional three-month workplace internship, and a final integrative project.

The program offers a low student-professor ratio in an individualized program with strong links to the business community. Classes are led by visiting scholars and members of the private sector, and workshops, seminars, a mentorship program, panel discussions, and corporate tours take place throughout the year to introduce students to business leaders.

Program Choices
The MBA program offers two specific streams: International Business (IB) and Innovation and Technology Management (ITM). Students receive a common foundation in business essentials in the first two modules of study. In module three, students choose their concentration. Module four sees IB students studying the North American business environment in Saint John; while in module five, they may pursue studies in Europe or Asia. The study abroad experience adds three months to a student's study for a total program length of 15 months. Students enrolled in the ITM stream become involved in an established IT firm. Students may also choose a general curriculum and earn a General Management (GM) MBA, or complete research with a faculty member on a specific business issue.

International Business MBA
Students in the IB stream may complete European studies at the Burgundy School of Business in France, or Asian studies at the Birla Institute of Technology in India or at Shanghai University in China. Students complete an international business plan as their final integrative project. Courses offered during the program include the business environment, comparative international marketing, international finance and trade, comparative consumer behavior, and comparative human resources management.

Innovation and Technology Management MBA
The ITM option gives students the opportunity to be involved in an emerging business, which helps students learn to create value from new technology and technological change. Courses in the latter part of this stream concentrate on competitive technology intelligence, logistics and supply chain management, business-to-business marketing, management of strategic alliances and networks, current topics in technology management, and current topics in government and business. ITM students complete a new venture business plan as their integrative project.

General Management MBA
GM students receive 18 weeks of instruction before they start focusing their studies in IB or ITM. GM students complete a business plan as their final integrative project.

International Student Support
The International Student Office provides newly arrived students with an orientation to UNBSJ and advises them on administrative and personal concerns throughout the year. An international student association and other cultural and sports organizations are active on campus. Various English language programs and writing labs are available.

Career Placement and Opportunities
The MBA program's internship and mentorship program ensures that graduates will develop a network of business and professional contacts and meet prospective employers. The program's professional development consultant delivers workshops, provides counseling and assistance, and helps students conduct job searches, prepare for interviews, compile résumés, and write cover letters. The MBA program also arranges for recruiters to come on campus and interview MBA candidates. Graduates often secure employment in Canada or return home with a solid background in business education and overseas experience. After completion of their MBA, on average, 76.5 percent of graduates are employed within three months and 33 percent report a change in salary.
