Career history Emmanuel started his career at the University of Hannover as a scientist in the Institute of Electric Power Systems. After four years, he joined Siemens AG as sales manager, responsible for more than 10m Euros . Before starting the MBA programme, he was a manager in a technology consultancy.
What I personally found to be one of the most powerful assets of the programme is the active and first-class network of alumni in Europe and around the world.
After seven years of work experience in various fields such as research and development, sales, and business development, I decided that it was time for me to grow further. The increasing demand for entrepreneurial thinking and acting in all business areas was the reason for me to apply for a second postgraduate programme, this time in business administration.
Why Mannheim? In the beginning of my selection process for finding the most suitable full-time one-year MBA programme for me, I set up three requirements that had to be fulfilled: first, I wanted a top-quality academic education; secondly,I wanted to learn in a highly diverse and international environment; and thirdly, I wanted an efficient return on investment. After screening almost all the top European programmes, I decided to apply to the Mannheim Business School (MBS).
The programme The University of Mannheim is the most prominent German university for teaching business administration, according to several independent enquiries among human-resource managers. Additionally, the professors at the MBS are among the best academic teachers, with long experience in university and industry. The Mannheim Professional European MBA programme consists of four academic terms. The first two terms take place at two of the three partner business schools in the UK, France and Denmark. This rotating system trained my ability to be effective in quick-changing and highly international environments. The learning methods are a sound mixture of lectures, case studies and team projects with my fellow students of different nationalities and professional backgrounds. Furthermore, courses of intensive soft-skills training and personal coaching have given me the opportunity to explore my strengths and weaknesses, and develop my leadership skills further. But what I personally found at the end to be one of the most powerful assets of the programme is the active and first-class network of alumni in Europe and around the world, which provides me with valuable career advice and support. What I feel distinguishes this programme from others is that it offers the European perspective on global studies like international management, international marketing and international finance. This is complemented by courses like European law and taxation, which altogether provide the best postgraduate education in business administration, especially for those planning to do business in Europe, for Europe or with Europe.
My job / What have I learned at MBS Looking back to my MBA time I surely can say that the MBS curriculum provided me a "healthy" mixture of theoretical and practical methods and tools that I can apply in my day work. Additionally, as management consultant I work every day in teams with people of different professional as well as cultural backgrounds. This is something that I had the opportunity to practice during the MBA course and helped me a lot when I started my new job. The complex relationship between work group diversity and performance was one of the main elements in my "organizational behavior" class.
