Kuehne School of Logistics and ManagementKUEHNE SCHOOL OF LOGISTICS AND MANAGEMENT
The Kuehne School of Logistics and Management took shape with the expansion and the change of name of the HSL Hamburg School of Logistics on October 1, 2007. The HSL was founded in 2003 as a public-private partnership by the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) and the Kuehne Foundation of Schindellegi, Switzerland, and quickly became one of the outstanding business schools for logistics management.

On the TUHH campus the Kühne School offers a full-time and a part-time study program in logistics management leading to a Master of Business Administration (MBA). With a new research center, the Center of Advanced Studies in Logistics, the Kuehne School will further consolidate its leading position in logistics research. Jointly with young research scientists, the Kuehne School's professors will conduct research into current and future challenges in logistics and develop practicable solutions for business in cooperation with private enterprise. The scientists involved are a guarantee of exacting and high-quality teaching and research.

SPECIALIZATION
Logistics is a booming sector with excellent potential for the future. The need for highly-qualified management personnel is constantly growing. The integrated teaching approach at Kuehne School trains students to become experts in the logistics field, whose knowledge can be put to the test in the reality of the industrial workplace.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE
The MBA program covers a 12-month period. The entire MBA program comprises 60 ECTS credits, including the master's thesis. The logistics courses have a clear focus on the entire supply chain and make up more than half of the total number of program courses. The emphasis is on imparting knowledge about the targeted development and integrated structuring of enterprise-related and cross-enterprise value added systems on the basis of logistics principles. Throughout the program students are trained systematically in management skills. Focal points are personal skills (effective presentation and communication), teamwork skills (moderating workshops and learning creativity techniques), and interpersonal skills (conflict management and negotiating techniques). The program ends with a master's thesis in which a logistics problem must be dealt with in a specified time frame.

TARGET GROUP
The full-time program prepares young professionals with an international orientation for junior management positions in logistics-related businesses, e.g. (logistics) consulting companies, transportation and shipping industries, supply chain departments of big or mid-size companies.
Our students have an average age of 27, and come from all continents; 85 percent of each class originates from abroad; the average work experience is 2.5 years; about two thirds in each class have a non-logistics background (degree resp. work experience) and want to gain a further qualification in logistics to open up new career prospects.

HAMBURG - A HUB OF LOGISTICS
Located in the north of Germany on the Elbe River, Hamburg is the trade and transport hub of northern Europe. It is a prime transport location right at the heart of the Single European Market, and is poised to expand as the EU enlarges to the east. All major logistics providers--well more than 5,000 firms--have a base in the greater Hamburg region, accounting for an estimated labor force of 230,000. The concentration of logistics expertise in Hamburg is a major location advantage.
